Failure of structures in river beds and banks (such as bridges, culverts or control grade structures) is related, in most cases, to scour processes. This course aims to familiarise students with the different types of scour and morphological processes that should be considered when assessing structures near rivers and with the advantages and disadvantages of different types of protection works.
